I wish my hair was longer...
I can't tell you how many times I have heard this from guests in my chair. Or, "my hair just doesn't seem to grow any longer than it is now."
If this is something you struggle with, I've got some tips to help you grow those locks, loves!
1. Get regular"micro" trims.
A micro trim dusts the ends of your hair, removing 1/8th inch or less...you literally won't even see anything on the floor when you are done, BUT by removing those split ends, you will preserve length by preventing those pesky splits from moving further up the hair strand. If you wait too long between trims, you'll end up having to take off more in the long run. I recommend at least 3 micro trims a year, more if your hair is more susceptible to damage (daily heat styling, blonding, etc).
2. Do weekly deep conditioning treatments.
If you want your hair to grow, you must take special care with it. Especially the ends, they are the oldest, driest and most brittle part of your hair strand, and if they are not properly nourished they will break!
I recommend alternating the L'anza Moi Moi Moisture Masque and L'anza Keratin Healing Oil Intensive Hair Masque for weekly at home conditioning treatments. These will help keep those ends moisturized and strong to maintain length.
Incorporating treatments into your daily styling routine is another way to give your locks the love they need to grow! 3. Cautiously cleanse.
Cleansing is the foundation to any hair care routine. Choose a shampoo that is sulfate free (all L'anza shampoos are sulfate free), and suited for your hair type, your stylist will be able to help you choose the right one for you!
When you shampoo focus on massaging the scalp, it will increase circulation and stimulate hair growth. Avoid scrubbing the length of your hair, the suds will run down and clean them without any work on your part.
When towel drying your hair, gently wrap it. Avoid rubbing your hair with the towel. A t-shirt works great to gently dab out excess moisture without damaging your ends.
If you can, use L'anza Dry Shampoo to extend time between shampoos! Washing every 2-3 days is best for your locks.
4. Rethink your diet.
The healthiest diet for you hair, is a healthy diet in general; one that is based on real, whole foods and that is plant-based. Adding foods that are rich in iron, zinc, vitamin C, B vitamins, and omega-3 are most commonly linked to stronger and longer hair. Some examples of foods you can find these nutrients in are: oysters, clams, beans, and eggs for protein (the “building block” of hair); bell peppers and dark, leafy greens for vitamin C; and hemp seeds and wild salmon for omega-3 fats.
You can also use a supplement like Biotin to help fuel your body for healthy hair growth.
5. Sleep on a silk pillowcase.
A cotton pillowcase will absorb the moisture from your hair as you sleep. Instead, sleep on a silk pillowcase which will retain moisture and reduce friction, therefore reducing damage.
Use hair growth regimen like the L'anza Stimulating line. These products gently remove excess sebum and residue to promote fuller-looking hair and keep the hair in the Anagen (growth) phase longer by targeting the seven areas to nourish healthy hair growth.
Growing your hair to great lengths can be done, loves. It does take time, sacrifice and diligence in your hair care routine, but it can be done!
